Our Gotlands are all evaluated @110 days of age. All lambs in the flock are weighed, scored for body conformation & wool parameters to provide phenotypic data.Â
This foundation + pedigree information and parental/relatives data are all combined to calculate each individuals predicted genetic breeding value. What we see is an effect of genes and environmental factors, while calculations can show the unbiased genetic correlations.Â
Beside the phenotypic check of each lamb and estmation of breeding value, other methods are used for measurements.
We test wool samples for micron count, run genotypic tests and genetic pedigree verification + use scan of eyemuscle by ultrasound.Â
